Hey ppl, I got this mail which is written by Pr. Mike. Do take your time to read it and give it a thought or two...
Dear all,
Lies are lies and are especially dangerous and destructive when they have to do with the very nature of Reality. "The Secret", a 'NYT best-selling' book has been promoted by celebrities (e.g. Oprah Winfrey in her show), and is in our bookstores. If you have not heard or seen it, you definitely will. This book does not "attack" the basis of faith in the way The DaVinci Code does, but its deceptively attractive nature of its message is FAR MORE dangerous.
If I were to be kind about it, I would describe it as a re-packaging of the old "positive thinking" success literature. If I were less kind, I would describe it as 21st century Dummies' introduction to the Occult, courtesy of the formerly in-vogue New Age movement. (BTW, the Church has also gotten confused about these things over the last 20 years with the "name-it-and- claim-it- in-Jesus- name" lies-masquerading- as-Bible- teaching. )
Pass this attachment around to your cellies. We MUST teach ourselves that the ONLY REALITY is what God's Word says it is. The Bible MUST be our Truth-measuring- stick.
Do not be misled by nice-sounding and comforting words. Always check it and the very idea of it, against Scripture.
Shalom
Pr Mike
So yeah, always check with the Bible.

I have listen to some of the chapters of "The Secret" in an audio book.
The point of the secret is traced back to belief in Scientology: that sciences and laws govern life. In that sense, it is to allow the mind to make new beliefs and associations to all encounters in life.
True that it is tempting to read and practice, but IMHO, it can never surpass the scriptures. On the side, it may be a good supplement to creating our own positive thoughts.
If you all like, I can bring the audio CD and we can all do a CG on it, and discuss it alongside scriptures. It will be interesting.
